Events—upcoming and past

Upcoming and Past Events (most recent, or furthest into the future, at the top)

Just in case you plan on being in Los Angeles in September, I’ll be giving a talk at the legendary Bodhi Tree Bookstore , 8585 Melrose Ave, at 3 pm on Sunday, Sept. 18. This iconic store will end its historic run at the end of September. I imagine I’ll be one of the last to do an event there – bitter sweet. If you’re near L.A. but can’t make that date, I’ll be doing a similar event at Mystic Journey Bookstore, 1319 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, on Fri. Sept. 16 at 7 pm.

For any of my friends in the Toronto area, I’ll be doing a book talk at Origo Books (www.origobooks.com) in Toronto on Aug. 6, 5 pm.

Seventh International Amazonian Shamanism Conference in Iquitos, Peru, July 16-22, 2011. I’ll be a presenter at the conference. I encourage anyone who can pull it off to go. The cost is very reasonable, accommodation is dirt cheap, even free if you stay at the conference’s malocca, and there is scheduled time for three ayahuasca ceremonies with shamans selected by the conference organizers. http://www.soga-del-alma.org/2011/

There will be a Spirit Plant Conference being held here in Vancouver at UBC on the weekend of June 19-21, 2011. I believe this will be the first event of its kind ever held in Vancouver. I’ll be presenting a couple of sessions at the conference. There will also be some great presenters from out to town, including: Dennis McKenna, brother of Terence and a wonderfully knowledgeable spokesman on behalf of the plants; Kat Harrison, former wife of the same Terence and an extremely knowledgeable botanist and spokeswoman; Guillermo Arévalo, a master ayahuasca shaman from Peru and the teacher of a number of the new ayahuasqueros working in our region; and a number of other very interesting folks.

The conference is being organized by Conscious Living Network (consciouslivingradio.org) and the current information on it can be seen at the following page on their website: http://www.consciouslivingradio.org/page141.htm

East West Bookshop in Seattle (www.eastwestbookshop.com) will also be hosting a talk by me, just two days later on June 9. I don’t know the exact time yet, probably around the same time as the Banyen talk, early evening. Some of you live in that general area of Washington State so I hope you’ll come and say hi and support the event. I’m also looking for friends from the Vancouver area to go on a little adventure and ride down with me. I’ll drive, leaving here mid-afternoon and back before midnight. Let me know.

Banyen Books (www.banyen.com) will be hosting a talk by me on the evening of June 7, 6:30 to 8 pm at the store (3608 W. 4th Ave in Vancouver). I hope some of my local friends and colleagues will come out to this. If you came to my book launch last November I promise this one will not be a direct repeat. There won’t be a charge for this event
